I need to fix a very slow performing SQL Server Reporting Services report server.? I am experiencing extremely slow performance on my company's reporting server with only one report. There are currently about 30 reports hosted on the server, the vast majority of which will load within a few seconds after having being selected; however, one report on average takes about 5 minutes to load. Previously, when first added to the server several months ago, the report performed just fine, but in recent weeks the load time has signifcantly degraded.

My goal is to just attach to the Db like I do with Access because I don't have admin rights to my host server (1and1.com) I was able to get the "AttachDbFilename: |DataDirectory|,mdf"(I had to change the actual string because yahoo was blocking file paths i think) to work locally where I have sql server express installed. I've set up the standard ASP.NET 2.0 Login and CreateUser pages. They were working before with a SQL Express copy of aspnetdb. I don't know how aspnetdb got set up; I think my web host helped me put the database out there. Today I came back from vacation and the log in was crashing with a DB error. I didn't save the error, so I can't tell you what it was. Then I deleted the aspnetdb file from the App_Data folder thinking it would be re-created when I created a new user. That didn't happen and now I don't know how to get the aspnetdb created again. I can't find where MSDN discusses this at all. Can someone please give me a link to that info and maybe I could figure this out myself? If not, can some tell me how to re-create the aspnetdb database either in SQL Express or SQL Server?

sql server database updating?? hi, I'm currently using sql server 2000 for my database. My problem is that this database now hosted on the server gets updated regularly. I mean, we may want to change the structure of some tables and add new fields to them but at the same time we don't want to lose the data entered by users through our website which connects to this database. I notmally take a copy of the database and update the tables and add stored procedures and then I generate sql scripts for the new tables and new stored procedures but the problem when I try to edit the structure of a table. This will result in losing the data that was inserted in the table. Because using the "generate sql script" will most probably drop the old table and create a new one with the new fields. so, now how can I update this table and at the same time preserve the data??? I know that the new fields data will be null but that's fine, I can edit them later. One more thing..when you guys update databases, what exactly do you do i what exactly do you do if this database is connected to a website? Do you drop the website temporarily in order to update the database? or what? I mean what if at the exact moment that you dropped you database, some user was adding data? what will happen then??

I am wanting to get beyond simply writing html code and designing nice looking pages and I want to learn more abotu content rich, dynamic, database driven websites. I have heard that if you want to have dynamic material on your site a lot of it depends on your host and your hosts server. Like if you want to run cold fusion programming that your server must support it. Or if you want to use perl, php, server sife includes. I don't even know what much of that really means. This is what I want to learn about. Specifically, I want to know right now how much of dynamic content is actually dependent on the host. I would like to use sql for my database as that is what I have edited in the past. Does my host and server need to know this? Do they need to do anything for this to work and will they charge extra? But what exactly is backend? What is application framework. I have na idea and I have heard these terms dozens of times but its never been explained- even by IT professionals. Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server problem? I can't use Visual Studio to create Update and Delete Queries through the Data Source configuration Wizard. Visual Studio 2005. I can use the wizard to create the Select query. The check boxes for Update and Delete queries are dimmed out and I can't select them. I do have the primary key in my select query and that works fine when I test it. I am also able to manually write a delete query and put it into the data souce object. The manually created query works fine! This worked fine until last Friday or so. It has not worked today at all. I think something was changed at the hosting service because I have not changed anything. Unfortunately a number of these spreadsheets are shared and used largely by all staff members and because everyone wants to use a particular spreadsheet they commonly see "Soandso has this sheet locked for editing" What want to do basically is use my current SQL database on my server to host a new Database that cant capture basic info that is inputted into it by staff without the constraints of only one person being able to input at one time like excel. I have a potential client that does not have a server on their network, just a bunch of workstations connected through a router.
